	This independent agency was started in 1922 as a spin-off of the Monroe Bank and Trust Company. Anti-trust laws had been enacted that prevented a single entity from banking and selling insurance simultaneously. Monroe Bank was eventually bought by the Bank of Mississippi, later Bancorp South. Frank Ransom, Sr. managed Central Insurance until he was joined by his son Frank Ransom, Jr. after WWII. In the 1960's, the business once again spanned a generation as Dennis and Em Ransom joined thier father to run Central. Dennis retired in 1996, leaving his sister Em Walters as solo owner and manager of the agency. Interestingly, one individual, India Ware, devotedly worked at Central for all three generations, a total of 47 years. At present, Em is accompanied by a terrific team including Gwen Jolly, Sarah Darty, Stephanie Walters, Tessa Honeycutt, Patsy Pigford, Eleanor Ashley, and James Harris. Central Insurance Office, Inc. is a full line independent agency that offers modern day expertise with old fashion service. Available coverage includes all forms of commercial, ranging from retail to contractor's, as well as small industrial, personal home and auto, life, and health.
